LYRICS

MODERN CLASSIC

You’ve got all the class of a cabaret lounge.

Somehow you’re in the past with a brand new sound.

You got there first, but you feel nostalgic.

And that’s the curse, of a modern classic.

You scroll on your phone while you suck on cigars.

They put an electric soul in a classic car.

And don’t you know, that it drives like magic.

And that’s the curse, of a modern classic.

You swing for the fences, but you’re misunderstood.

If they got your references, all would be good.

You’re in your prime, but you feel like you’ve passed it.

And that’s the curse, of a modern classic.

That’s the curse, of a modern classic.

Oh the curse, of a modern classic.

That’s the curse, of a modern classic.

The curse, of a modern classic.

IF I MARRIED YOU

I fall to pieces when you say my name.

I’ll tell you baby, for the rest of my days

I would cherish you, If I married you tonight

Years pass it won’t stay the same,

But I wanna watch as we grow and we change.

I would wear with you, if I married you tonight.

And any little thing, that is bound to come along.

I know I could be half as strong, with you by my side.

And Every single spring, summer, fall and winter,

days would be better with you in my life.

Tough love when you know that you need it.

I won’t back down if and when it gets heated.

I would care for you, if I married you tonight.

No chance of a changing of heart.

I swear babe until death do us part,

I would bury you, if I married you tonight.

And any little thing, that is bound to come along.

I know I could be half as strong with you by my side.

And every single spring, summer, fall and winter,

days would be better with you in my life.

I don’t want a day without you.

Stay beside me and I’ll prove it too.

If you’d have me do, you know I would marry you.

And you know I’m not scared of any little thing.

This is what it’s Like

Michael's tripping over boots as he comes in.

All the lights are out and Katie's in bed.

It's probably for the best they've been fighting.

He curls up next to her and lies awake till morning.

Every night her snoring keeps him up,

And every day, she tries not to hate his guts.

It's been so long without love,

Only time will tell when they've had enough.

This is what it feels like.

And this is how it sounds.

This is what it's like to feel alone.

Mary sits and has a coffee by her window.

Tears well in her eyes, recently widowed.

Her husband haunts her in her shadows,

but to tell the truth, she's glad he follows.

And hanging over breakfast there's a quiet,

but in her head, it's anything but silent.

Can't even smile without lying,

and from here on out, she'll be an island.

This is what it’s like.

Tommy's hiding in the corner at a party.

Wondering to himself, "why does no one get me?"

Stay for an hour then he'll probably leave,

All these social cues, they're not easy.

Who wouldn’t want someone as just as they're good.

He doesn’t use it, but he's got a mean right hook.

Tommy could spend every day pressed in a book.

He'd have so much to give if someone understood.

This is what it feels like, and this is how it sounds

This is what it's like to feel alone.

WHEN YOU’RE STONED

I wish that you would join me dear, everything is easy here.

And my smile is stuck behind my ears.

And any worry seems to disappear.

I got lost on my way home - forgot all I’ve ever known.

That’s just the way things go, when you’re stoned.

I guess that I’m creative now,

and simple things make me so proud.

I might be floating on a cloud -

Or maybe I’ve just melted to the couch.

I got lost on my way home - forgot all I’ve ever known.

That’s just the way things go when you’re stoned.

Dealing with my dry mouth, we don’t need to go out.

Stay at home and read aloud, if only I’d remember how.

A PIECE OF ME

If I broke you off a piece of myself,

would you care for me and put me up on a shelf

Wading through the water at the beach,

would you clean me up and take me home if you found me

Honestly, if you had a piece of me

Tell me the truth. Would you keep it close to you?

Honestly, if you could hold on to me

Tell me the truth. Would you keep it close to you?

Would you keep me under lock and key,

Or put me on the mantle for everyone to see. Like some kind of trophy

You could take me anywhere that you go

Put me in your pocket so you never feel alone. All alone

Honestly, if you had a piece of me

Tell me the truth. Would you keep it close to you?

Honestly, if you could hold on to me

Tell me the truth. Would you keep it close to you?

HEAVEN ALWAYS FINDS US

One day we’ll have a waterfall in our backyard,

with a stream to run your fingers through.

And If life ever tries to take you down,

you’ll have some place you can turn to.

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

heaven always finds us

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

Even if it’s only in our heads

We’ll see our favourite bands in NYC,

or spend our nights on broadway

We’ll have a summer home out on the beach,

and spend winters down in LA

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

heaven always finds us

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

Even if it’s only in our heads

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

heaven always finds us

Oh heaven always finds us in the end

Even if it’s only in our heads

A HEART THAT DOESn’T Want Mine

I couldn’t see the warning signs, hiding in plain sight.

Or maybe I did but I didn’t think twice.

I’m gonna miss the look in your eyes, and keeping you warm at night.

But we’re two puzzle pieces that didn’t quite fit right.

Now our friends are choosing sides, and I can’t get you off my mind.

It’ll be alright it just takes time, and I don’t want a heart that doesn’t want mine.

Only save the good times had, and throw away the rest.

But not one moment will I ever regret.

And in the end, I wanna be your friend - but our golden sun has finally set.

And now our friends are choosing sides, and I can’t get you off my mind.

It’ll be alright it just takes time, and I don’t want a heart that doesn’t want mine.

I don’t wanna see you vanish, but we shouldn’t live in anguish.

Noone could have ever planned this - baby we just love in a different language.

now our friends are choosing sides, and I can’t get you off my mind.

It’ll be alright it just takes time, And I don’t want a heart that doesn’t want mine.

now our friends are choosing sides, and I can’t get you off my mind.

It’ll be alright it just takes time, and I don’t want a heart that doesn’t want mine.

It’ll be alright it just takes time, and I don’t want a heart that doesn’t want mine

Oh it’ll be alright it just takes time, and I don’t wanna heart that doesn’t want mine.

CHURCH BELLS

I hear music, I hear church bells ring.
Lost in the moment every time that she sings.
We’ll share a shelter.
I’m willing and able.
Song of the summer, all in on the table.

Float away on a star filled night.
Waves in the water, reflecting the moonlight.
Set the scene, it feels like we’re acting.
Last call for curtain!
Lights. Camera. Action.

It’s hardly 9, the night's just beginning.
We’re all out of wine and my head is spinning.
Sun comin’ up when I looked at the clock.
Stayed up all night on gossip and pillow talk.

Is this love that I’m feeling?
I’ve been down, but that don’t mean I’m beaten.
I’ve given up on all hope and all reason.

Don’t wanna live without you by my side.
When I look in your eyes, I’m in paradise.
I wanna see you in an all white dress, coming down those steps and I hear church bells.

I hear music, I hear church bells ring.
Lost in the moment every time that he sings.
We’ll share a shelter.
I’m willing and able.
Song of the summer, all in on the table.

Float away on a star filled night.
Waves in the water, reflecting the moonlight.
Set the scene, it feels like we’re acting.
Last call for curtain!
Lights. Camera. Action.

GOODNIGHT, SWEETHEART

I’d try to move the mountains, I’d try to part the sea.
I’d turn the whole world over if you’d come back to me.
I know I'd make you happy, I know I have the key.
I’d give you everything and carry out your fantasies.

I hope the sun was shining when you walked on through.
I hope the birds were singing beautiful songs for you.
And all the bells were ringing, and all the people came.
Was there a choir there when Saint Peter called your name?

Goodnight, Sweetheart.
I know it seems dark.
Time to say goodbye and that’s the hard part.

When you get where you’re going.
When you close your eyes.
I hope you think about me, I hope I’m on your mind.
And when the light is fading, when the stars come out.
I long to feel you with me in this empty house.

I’ll plant a symbol for you and as I watch it grow,
I’ll drown in memories and think about our happy home.
And when the trees are swaying, when I think of you.
I feel you all around me, I hope you feel me too.

Goodnight, Sweetheart.
I know it seems dark.

Time to say goodbye and that’s the hard part.

ONE HEART TO ANOTHER

Is this what we’re meant to be?
A rush of dopamine from a flashing screen.
And the noise never stops, all the deadlines, calls and ticking clocks.
It’s just what they want.
To turn you into something you're not.
A slave to a company, no we’re not in chains but we don’t feel free.

One heart to another.

It’s never over.
You just pick yourself up and press on like a soldier.
Know you’re not alone.
No one should carry the weight of the world on their shoulders.
And why act so tough, when I know you bleed like the rest of us?
And when it’s too much, you can rest your head on someone you trust.

One heart to another.

COOCOORA

Echoes, in your head you don't belong.
But if you learn to let go, we can finally move as one.
From your head down to your toes, you can feel it comin' on.
Forget about your ego and don’t stop until dawn.

Coora, Coocoora,
Coocoora, Coocoora,
Coora, Coocoora,
Coocoora, coocoo, Coocoo

Together, catching signals from above.
Give into the pressure to love and be loved
You are all I treasure, you shine as bright as gold.
Nothing lasts forever, but I wish that something would.

Coora, Coocoora,
Coocoora, Coocoora,
Coora, Coocoora,
Coocoora, coocoo, Coocoo

FRAN’S SONG

Remember when I called you friend?
I want to go back then, I want to pretend.
Now, I believe that love is a crutch.
I watched you leave and fell out of touch.

And now you sleep, trapped in a picture.
Vague memories, now that I treasure.
I hope you have peace, I hope you have pleasure.
Don’t worry ‘bout me, I’m getting better.

Remember when I called you friend?
I want to go back then, I want to pretend.

HAVE FAITH

Turn your eyes to the stars, the moon and sun,
to be your guide for what is and what's yet to come.
To be embraced, in body, mind and soul.
And put your fate in the hands of an animal.

Have faith, in all that you are.
Have faith, in what's written in stars.
Have faith, in the comfort you find.
Have faith, in what's written in time.

Lit the spark with the story of your birth.
And at your heart you're a child of the earth.
Found your place in the wisdom of ancients,
and saw your face in the constellations.

Have faith, in all that you are.
Have faith, in whats written in stars.
Have faith, in the comfort you find.
Have faith, in what's written in time.

And if all of your friends start to let you down,
have some faith in yourself, life will come around.
Yeah if all of your friends start to let you down,
have some faith in yourself, life will come around.

Have faith, in all that you are.
Have faith, in whats written in stars.
Have faith, in the comfort you find.
Have faith, in whats written in time.

Have some faith in yourself.
A little faith in yourself.
Have some faith in yourself.

A little faith in yourself.

SPIRIT

Something about the way your body moves seems more natural than breathing.
I can get so deeply lost in you that I can't tell if I'm dreaming.
Then you raise your hand out from your hip, steady as you draw the bow.
And as the words begin to leave your lips they pierce me like an arrow.

And now the light is fading as I struggle to my feet.
And when I finally find my footing the rug is pulled from under me.

Don't tell me that you’re leaving, I don't wanna hear it.
Say you're here in spirit.
Don’t tell me that you’re,
Don’t tell me that you’re leavin’.

I want to find a way to keep you here but I don't have the answer.
You hover in the air just out of reach and vanish like a specter.
The image of you fades and tears apart as you change into a phantom.
Show them what is deep inside your heart as it beats just like a drum.
Now it's all just muffled voices as the floor caves under me.
And as I slip into the darkness it's like I'm fallin' back in my seat.

Don't tell me that you’re leaving, I don't wanna hear it.
Say you're here in spirit.
Don’t tell me that you’re,

Don’t tell me that you’re leavin’.

DEEP IN MY BONES

You walked in the room and before I could move,
I was struck still by the sight of you.
And like never before, I heard the chords.
I heard the music but lost the words.

And I couldn’t breathe.
And my heartbeat pounded my chest like a timpani.
Like in tales of yore, or forgotten lore,
Like the beating of drums from some ancient war.

Blinded by light off your shoes, as I watch you spin round the room.
You don’t have to dance on your own, I feel it deep in my bones.

I rose from my seat and fell into a dream.
The sound of your voice like a symphony.
And the way that you speak, reads like poetry.
And it hits like a train or a wave on the beach.

I’ll lift you up when life is too much,
And carry you home to all that you love.
And I hope that’s enough when my time should come,
to not be forgotten and left out to rust.

Blinded by light off your shoes, as I watch you spin round the room.

You don’t have to dance on your own, I feel it deep in my bones.

LOST IN DREAMS

Now I’m comin’ home to be welcomed in with open arms,
and rest my worried mind in the solace you provide.
Memories on the walls, as I wander through familiar halls.
There's no need to speak when you see right through me.
I’ll drive right through the night and when I’m hit by the morning light,
Everything comes into view, all the roads lead back to you.
So I look to the rising sun and head back where I come from.

Full of fear and grief, you showed me my release.
Lead me to the stream, and as it washes over me I am lost in dreams.

Drowning in the disbelief of anything that can't be seen.
Look beyond the world you know to the magic and miracles.
But I've looked upon those ancient scripts and they all just seem to break and bend,
when you pull them thread by thread.
So I let the river pull me on and found everything I need in love.
And as the water starts to rise, I can fall back and close my eyes.
‘Cause now that I've opened up, I'm waiting on the flood.

Full of fear and grief, you showed me my release.

Lead me to the stream, and as it washes over me I am lost in dreams.

WILD

Let me take you away, carried off by the waves.
I see it in your face, I know you’re longing to be safe.
Let go of where you’re from, all that you’ve overcome.
Maybe it’s in your blood, born to be closer to the sun.

On to a great unknown.
Leave all the rows and rows and rows of boring suburban homes and break for a golden coast.
And try hard to understand, how we move hand in hand with what we don’t comprehend, down to a single grain of sand.

Wild, through valleys and foreign hills.
Leaving the lives we’ve built.
All of it at our heels.
Wild, move with the ocean swell and find it within ourselves to finally take the helm.

Let me take you away, carried off by the waves.
I see it in your face, I know you’re longing to be safe.
Let go of where you’re from, all that you’ve overcome.
It might be that we belong beyond the horizon.

Wild, through valleys and foreign hills.
Leaving the lives we’ve built.
All of it at our heels.
Wild, move with the ocean swell and find it within ourselves to finally take the helm.

Wild, through valleys and foreign hills.
Leaving the lives we’ve built.
All of it at our heels.

Wild, move with the ocean swell and find it within ourselves to finally take the helm.

JULIA

Babe lets make a memory, some kind of secret for you and me.
I’m sick and tired of this misery, ah just tell me who you wanna be.

There’s music rolling cross the bay, peaking out the old PA.
Oh just wind ‘em up and watch ‘em play and let your mind go MIA.

Julia, am I wasting my time?
Julia, everyone’s losing their minds.

Sit down grab another drink.
Sally’s rambling about The Kinks.
Get so plastered we can’t even speak and then we’ll hit the streets.

There’s music rolling cross the bay, peaking out the old PA.
Oh just wind ‘em up and watch ‘em play and let your mind go MIA.

Julia, am I wasting my time?
Julia, everyone’s losing their minds.

There’ll be idle conversation when we stand in the street
Standing at the station shooting the breeze
I can feel the hatred building up inside
Can you see the pavement from the high horse you ride.

Does anybody here tonight remember just what it was like?
There was something in the air alright when the crowd begins to sing.

Julia, am I wasting my time?
Julia, everyone’s losing their minds.

Everyone’s losing their minds.
Everyone’s losing their minds.

KENYA

You say you've got to get out and you've got to discover all the things that there is to uncover.
Leave this town, and when you return, preach the wisdom of the things that you've learned.

Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya

They say you are what you eat, but I eat what I'm given.
Guess that's why I'm just skin and bone.
Reap what you sow in the world that we live in.
Pick up nothing like a rolling stone.

Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya

And you pull me in with your eyes.
And you call me back and then I'm hypnotized.
And it always seems to go your way.
Well I tell you not today, no it's going my way.

Well the seasons change, but I'll weather the weather.
Two peas in a pod, two birds of a feather.
Old man winter takes the leaves from the trees.
Let's flock together, my heart’s on my sleeve.

Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya
Kenya, Kenya, Kenya, Kenya

LOOKING BACK

Headed downtown to see a show, ten bucks cover on victoria row.
Had a few drinks with a couple of friends, Devin passed out on the pavement again.

And they said, “They’ll be singing. They’ll be laughing when I’m looking back.”
When I’m looking Back.

We got a little rowdy, we’re the talk of the town.
Never get sick of messing around.
And when we get tired and we’re feeling down, can count on Micky for some sensual sounds.

And they said,
“They’ll be singing. They’ll be laughing when I’m looking back.”

They’ll be singing. They’ll be laughing. They’ll be cryin’ when I’m looking back.
They’ll be singing. They’ll be laughing. They’ll be cryin’ when I’m looking back.

SURVIVING JUST ON COFFEE

When I look back on the breakup, she had on her makeup and she said I was a loser,
but I was feeling looser.
She said that I ignored her, I annoyed her, and I was not her kind.
And I guess that she was right, but I slept alone that night and every night since then as well.
I guess I’ve hit a dry spell.
Maybe that’s a sign that I should change my ways or I should change my mind.

And I, just like the sun, leave it far behind me.
And I’ll drive all night surviving just on coffee.

Maybe she was right, I can’t recall at all last night.
Or the things that i had done. I’d completely come undone.
Someone’s gotta save me from this ship that’s set adrift upon the ocean.
And looking at it now I should have saved it somehow, when she said I was a loser Some light headed boozer.
But i know what I am and there’s no point in staying down or feeling broken.

And I, just like the sun, leave it far behind me.
And I’ll drive all night surviving just on coffee.

TALK TO ME, VOL.2

Screamin’ at every fucking teacher, immaturity’s our adolescent nature.
Trying to find ourselves, spent too much time trying to be somebody else.

Learning the wrong from the right thing.
When life got dull we’d run straight for the lightning.
Trying to impress my friends, starting up fights and resisting arrest.

Talk to me, I’m not made of money but I’m company and talking is cheap.
I’ll talk to you, tell you a story that’s almost true from my days of glory.

Secrets kept concealed.
We used to sneak out and drink in a field.
Now that I’m getting older I’ve had the lightning and I want the thunder.
Times are changing fast.
I guess it’s true that all things come to pass.
We had such a good time getting loaded off of whisky and cheap wine.

Talk to me, I’m not made of money but I’m company and talking is cheap.
I’ll talk to you, tell you a story that’s almost true from my days of glory.

Now maybe not lately, but things they got crazy when we went to the woods.
Any night in september we’d go and get hammered any chance that we could.

Talk to me, I’m not made of money but I’m company and talking is cheap.
I’ll talk to you, tell you a story that’s almost true from my days of glory.

Talk to me, I’m not made of money but I’m company and talking is cheap.
I’ll talk to you, tell you a story that’s almost true from my days of glory.

IVORY

Hold me close, I wanna feel you breathing.
Don’t let go, the light’s retreating.
Time we take Is only borrowed.
Here today and gone tomorrow.

When I finally go, promise me.
I wanna feel my home and history.
Cover me in stone and let me sleep.
Leave me to be bone and ivory.

I’m holding on to fading memories.
My flesh and blood, I wanna feel them with me.
In every spark, In every ember.
They light the dark and burn forever.

When I finally go, promise me.
I wanna feel my home and history.
Cover me in stone and let me sleep.
Leave me to be bone and ivory.

Hold me close, I wanna feel you breathing.
Don’t let go, the light’s retreating.
When morning comes and you fade from view.
I swear my love, I will return to you.

When I finally go, promise me.
I wanna feel my home and history.
Cover me in stone and let me sleep.
Leave me to be bone and ivory.

You Could Be My Queen Artwork.jpg

YOU COULD BE MY QUEEN

Wait, is this real or my imagination?
Are you running ‘round here casting spells?
Are you nothing but an apparition?
You can trust me, no I won't tell.

We could have secrets, just you and me.
We could tell stories and live out fantasies.
We could be different, live in a dream.
I could play king babe and you could be my queen.

Safe in the walls of an elaborate fortress.
You can show me who you really are.
And more with every passing moment
there's a piece that I can't bear to part.

And we'll hold up In an ivory tower, making love and talking for hours.
And find music in the constellations, I'm
your muse and you're my inspiration.

We could have secrets, just you and me.
We could tell stories and live out fantasies.
We could be different, live in a dream.
I could play king babe and you could be my queen.

So stay, I don't listen to the heartless skeptics.
There's no reason we can't fall in love.
If you lead me to a life of magic I can give
you what you're dreaming of.
