Dylan Menzie Joins The Audreys on Australian Tour
One of Atlantic Canada’s best-known voices heads down under to support the ARIA Award-winning blues/roots duo
Dylan Menzie, one of Atlantic Canada’s most celebrated young singer/songwriters, has been tapped to support popular Australian blues/roots duo The Audreys on their upcoming tour of their homeland. This will be the buzzed-about PEI-based troubadour’s first time performing in Australia and is the direct result of opportunities generated during meetings at the 2017 edition of East Coast Music Week in Saint John, NB.
The tour is a notable one for The Audreys, celebrating their ARIA-winning debut, Between Last Night and Us, making Menzie’s invitation to support the shows particularly special.
“We are very excited to have Dylan bring his captivating voice to Australia and join The Audreys’ national tour” says Sean Simmons of Premier Artists (The Audreys’ Booking Agent).
Menzie will first be showcasing during Australian Music Week, happening Nov. 1-3, 2017. Following his performances, he’ll join The Audreys for the majority of their trek, beginning Nov. 4th in Brisbane, Queensland and wrapping up on Nov. 12th in Newtown, New South Wales, at which point he heads back to Canada to prepare for some dates of his own.
“I’ve been wanting to perform around Australia for quite awhile. I’ve heard some great stories about how welcoming the audiences can be from some of the other Canadian east coasters who’ve made the trip down,” Menzie enthuses. “To have the opportunity to perform with a band as accomplished as The Audreys on such a special tour makes it all the more exciting. Really looking forward to this.”
With a sprawling vocal range and compelling approach to composition, Menzie made an indelible mark in the talent-rich Atlantic Canadian music market with his debut EP, Heather Avenue, in 2013.
In 2016, Menzie was a finalist in CBC’s annual Searchlight competition on the back of his breakout single, “Kenya,” which then spent two weeks at Number 1 on CBC Radio 2’s Top 20 leading up to the release of his 2016 album Adolescent Nature. The record showcases the pure emotion one can extract from simply a great voice and keen sense of dynamics.

PRESS
“Dylan Menzie is one of my favourite musicians coming out of the Maritimes today; with lyrical tricks up his sleeve and instrumental creativity to boot, it's not hard to see why music communities are already getting behind his music. With songs like 'Kenya' it's easy to compare him to some of Canada's best songwriters, I can't imagine it will be long until we're comparing others to him.” -Kerry Martin; CBC
"His voice grabbed me immediately, I can't wait to hear what else he has to offer... No bells and whistles, just talent." -Dallas Smith
“Dylan Menzie is a Canadian treasure - a combination of Springsteen, Fleet Foxes and Jim James (My Morning Jacket)”. -Meg Shorette; Executive Director-Launchpad (Bangor, ME)
"Dylan Menzie sang with a soaring eloquence and self-reflective clarity to enrapt Edmonton Folk Music Festival audiences in August. He channeled a perspective of calm maturity as he sang about community, love, and family while demonstrating a proficiency on acoustic guitar and piano." - Sable from Folk on the Road
